Source: Governor's Facebook PageLast year, we commenced the construction of a Geospatial Data Centre in Ado-Ekiti to interlink the people and strengthen data collection and generation, land administration, infrastructure, and workforce in Ekiti State. I am delighted to announce that we have completed and commissioned this critical project.This Centre has a technical workstation center, electronic file treatment center, capturing room, GIS office, a data transmitter section, and a GIS digital laboratory. One of its major priority areas would be the development of geospatial data, processing, storage, and dissemination of data on land.We have also trained and equipped the internal staff, including civil servants, to manage the GIS infrastructure, computer system, GIS productivity, and analysis tools, amongst others.Our administration remains committed to leaving a lasting legacy and fulfilling our promises along the lines of our 5-point developmental agenda.

Seyi Makinde Breaks Graduate Youth Employment Scheme Promise

Governor Seyi Makinde's promise to establish a Graduate Youth Employment Scheme during his first term (2019-2023) was never executed.   Official government documentation explicitly states that the program was "not yet commenced" as of June 2022, two-thirds into his first term, and remained unfulfilled when his first term ended in May 2023.  The promise was unambiguous: a dedicated graduate employment scheme. The administration failed to deliver it.

Source: Business DayOyo State Government on Wednesday paid the counterpart fund for Development Partners-backed Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) to ensure accelerated development of the rural communities in the state.Governor Seyi Makinde who disclosed this at the inauguration of the Project Monitoring and Technical Steering Committee, at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, said that the sum of N350 Million was paid two months into his tenure in office to facilitate the project.The project, which was instituted in April 2016, had remained moribund as a result of the failure of the state to pay the 12 per cent counterpart fund required by the Development Partners, including the World Bank, the French Development Bank and the African Development Bank (AfDB), among others.The governor stated that RAAMP would ensure quality and durable roads that would open up the rural areas for business.According to him, “when we came in, we met the RAAM Project almost moribund because Oyo State couldn’t pay its own counterpart fund. Within two and half months of our administration, we provided the counterpart fund and we were able to get the project back on track”.The project, which was meant to construct, rehabilitate and maintain over 1000 kilometres of rural roads across 33 Local Government Areas and 35 Local Council Development Areas of the state is aimed at linking the state’s Agro-logistic hubs for economic and social development.Governor Makinde said that the RAAMP is aimed at improving the standard of living of rural dwellers, ease access to transportation and enhance rural participation in economic development.

Gov. Makinde Pledges to Strengthen State Security Architecture

Source: VONThe Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has again promised that the state would continue to provide more support to security agencies and strengthen security architecture. The aim is to keep residents of the state safe and secure and maintain peace and order. The Governor stated this, on Sunday, at The Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, during a service to commemorate the 2024 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day Celebration Church Service. Makinde, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, said that “the state government would not relent in pursuing a cause that would further boost the morale of security agents so that they could do more in securing Oyo State.”

Makinde who integrated non-state security actors such as Soludero, Vigilante Groups, and Oodua People’s Congress into the state’s security architecture, Amotekun Corps, continues his support for the security actor, thus encouraging crime prevention. The corps members of Amotekun collaborate with the community on intelligence gathering towards crime prevention. This is part of the Neighbourhood Watch Programme he promised.

Makinde Declares Amotekun Corps Operational in Oyo

Source: The GuardianOyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has declared that the state’s Security Network Agency, code-named Amotekun Corps, is now fully operational.  Makinde, who gave the declaration, yesterday, at the passing-out ceremony of 1,500 pioneer Amotekun Corps, said that security had always been an issue in the state. This is the reason security was made one of the pillars of his administration.

Seyi Makinde's Livestock Villages Promise: Redirected Rather Than Fulfilled

Governor Seyi Makinde's campaign promise to establish livestock villages (poultry, pig, and fish villages) in agricultural zones during his first term (May 2019-May 2023) was not implemented as stated in the manifesto.  The promise explicitly mentioned "Establishment of livestock villages e.g. poultry, pig and fish villages in agricultural zones of the state" as distinct settlement initiatives.   Instead, the administration integrated livestock production facilities, including poultry pens (2,000 capacity), goat and sheep pens (100 capacity each), and fish ponds (10,000 capacity), into the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub rather than establishing dedicated livestock villages across agricultural zones.   This represents a fundamental departure from the campaign pledge to establish separate livestock villages. The project was absorbed into a broader agribusiness hub model rather than delivered as promised.

Seyi Makinde Breaks Tree Planters Association Formation Promise

Governor Seyi Makinde's campaign promise to form a Tree Planters Association in Oyo State during his first term (May 2019-May 2023) was never executed.  The manifesto explicitly listed "Formation of Tree Planters Association in the state" as a specific deliverable under forest reserves and afforestation initiatives .   While the administration launched tree planting campaigns, notably a 500,000-tree planting initiative in May 2021 and various afforestation drives, no Tree Planters Association was formally established, registered, or inaugurated.  Tree planting remained a government-led activity rather than a structured, independent association of tree planters as promised. The promise was broken.

Seyi Makinde's PWD Census Promise: Unfinished Business at End of First Term

Governor Seyi Makinde's campaign promise to conduct a census/data collection for People Living with Disabilities (PWD) during his first term (May 2019-May 2023) remained incomplete by the time his first administration ended.   Instead of conducting the promised census, the administration established the Oyo State Agency for Persons With Disabilities (OYSAPD) in December 2022, appointing PWD representatives into government and creating targeted employment initiatives for persons with disabilities.   While these actions demonstrated commitment to PWD welfare, they did not fulfill the specific campaign pledge to conduct a census or comprehensive data collection on the PWD population in the state.
