Work on this goal started immediately in 2019 with the creation of a special committee to talk with Osun State. 

 

By late 2020, both states signed an agreement to end the joint partnership. Oyo State took over the Ogbomoso campus, while Osun State took the College of Health Sciences in Osogbo.

Once the state took over, it increased the school's budget and updated its laws to allow for more courses like Law and Business. The administration also began building a second campus in Iseyin and started paying the agreed ₦8 billion settlement to Osun State.

By the end of the first term in May 2023, the university had moved from a state of crisis to a reliable and expanding institution.
