Reconstruction Of Oye-Ikun Road

Our Assessment

This promise is rated completed. The 30.5km road, abandoned after Fayemi's first term, was fully reconstructed and commissioned in December 2021, with Ondo State Governor performing the inauguration.

Why it Matters

This 34.4-kilometre road connects Oye to Ikun Dairy Farm, a key agricultural asset in Ekiti State. The route also extends toward the Kwara State boundary, making it vital for inter-state trade and agricultural logistics. Farmers along this corridor depend on good roads to evacuate perishable produce, reducing post-harvest losses and improving rural incomes.

Fayemi Reconstructs Oye-Ikun Road in Ekiti

Governor Fayemi has completed the reconstruction of the Oye-Ikun road. The project was flagged off in January 2020 alongside other major roads. The 34.4km road was among projects pencilled down for completion between December 2020 and June 2021.

In October 2021, during the third-anniversary celebrations of his second term, Fayemi commissioned the completed Oye-Ikun road (also referred to as Oye-Isan-Ikun Dairy Farm Road). The road was again scheduled for commissioning by the Governors of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Jigawa States in November 2021, alongside other major infrastructure projects. The road is among the key projects delivered by the administration with the commissioning ceremony attracting crowd, comprising traditional rulers, market women, artisans and other members of the public that assembled in Oye.

The road's completion was particularly significant for the Ikun Dairy Farm, which relies on good road infrastructure to transport milk and other dairy products to processing facilities and markets across the state.
