Reconstruction Of Agbado-Ode-Isinbode-Omuo Road.

Our Assessment

This promise has been completed. The 30.5km road, abandoned after Fayemi's first term, was fully reconstructed and commissioned in December 2021, with Ondo State Governor performing the inauguration

Why it Matters

This 30.5-kilometre road serves as a strategic link from northern Nigeria, through Kogi State, to Ekiti State's capital. For farmers in Gbonyin and Ekiti East Local Government Areas, it provides critical access to markets. The road also enhances inter-state commerce and reduces isolation for rural communities that depend on agriculture for their livelihoods.

Fayemi Reconstruct Agbado-Ode-Isinbode-Omuo Road

Governor Fayemi fully delivered on this promise, completing a project that had been abandoned for years. The road was originally awarded for reconstruction during Fayemi's first term in 2014 but was abandoned by the succeeding administration. After returning to office, Fayemi revisited the project and ensured its completion.

On December 14, 2021, the 30.5-kilometre Agbado-Ode-Isinbode-Omuo road was officially inaugurated. The commissioning ceremony was performed by Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), who praised Fayemi for doing "so much with little resources because of prudence and genuine love for the people".

Speaking at the event, Fayemi revealed the project's history: "The road project was awarded for reconstruction during my first term in office in 2014 but was abandoned by the succeeding administration. I had to revisit the project to completion in fulfilment of my promise that no project will be left uncompleted by my government".

Akeredolu noted that the road would "play a dual role of assisting farmers to easily get their produce to the market as well as connecting the State to the northern part of the country". The THISDAY report from July 2020 had already listed the road among those pencilled for completion between December 2020 and June 2021.
