Fayemi Promises Completion Of Ado-Ifaki Dual Carriage Way

Our Assessment

This promise is rated broken. Fayemi promised completion but did not fulfill it before leaving office.

Why it Matters

The Ado-Ifaki highway is a critical federal road connecting the state capital to the northern senatorial district and neighbouring states like Kogi and Kwara. For 18 years, five administrations failed to complete it, causing countless accidents, vehicle damage, and economic losses. Completion would end this cycle of failure and save lives.

Progress So Far

Oct 12, 2023 Updated: Jun 27, 2026

Fayemi Promises to Complete Ado-Ifaki Dual carriage road.

Fayemi promised to complete the Ado-Ifaki dual carriage in August 2021 during the Udiroko Festival, stating that his government would soon make moves to ensure speedy completion of Ado-Ifaki dual carriage way.

The Ado-Ifaki Dual Carriage Way (also called Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki Highway) is a Trunk 'A' federal road. It had been in construction since the administration of Governor Segun Oni (2007-2010) and survived through Fayemi's first term, Ayodele Fayose's tenure, and Fayemi's second term. Despite his promise, no substantial progress was made on this specific road before he left office.
