Commence Rehabilitation And Reconstruction Of Itaji - Imojo- Orisumbare Road Before The End Of January 2021

Our Assessment

This promise is rated Completed. The Itaji-Orisunmibare Road was flagged off on January 15, 2021, meeting the commencement deadline. However, the road projects were never completed under Gov. Fayemi. The promise was specifically about commencement before end of January 2021, not completion, and this was achieved.

Why It Matters

This road serves agrarian communities in Oye Local Government Area. Timely commencement unlocks farm-to-market access, encourages agricultural investment, and demonstrates that rural infrastructure is prioritised equally with urban projects. However, full construction of the road will even strengthen infrastructure in Ekiti state

Fayemi flags off construction of 1,000km rural roads in Ekiti

The Itaji-Imojo-Orisunmibare Road (also referred to as Itaji-Orisumbare Road) was clearly listed among the six pilot roads in Governor Fayemi's 1,000km rural roads flag-off on January 15, 2021. The project is under the RAAMP programme, co-financed by the World Bank and the French Agency for Development (AFD). The flag-off occurred before the end of January 2021, exactly as promised. The governor, represented by Deputy Governor Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, stated that the roads would stimulate grassroots economy, provide market access for farm produce, and prevent post-harvest losses. Contractors were instructed to engage local artisans and workmen to benefit the communities. While update from the RAAMP roads show they are far from being completed by the time Fayemi left office, the promise specifically required only commencement of rehabilitation and reconstruction before the end of January 2021, not completion..
