There was excitement in many communities across the three senatorial districts of Ekiti State on Thursday as Governor Kayode Fayemi flagged off the construction of 1,000km of rural roads.

Dr. Fayemi, who described the project as another dividend of democracy, said it was part of the fulfilment of promises he made to the people of the state during the electioneering for the 2018 governorship election.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, Fayemi explained that the roads, when constructed, would stimulate the grassroots economy, provide access to markets for farm produce and prevent post-harvest losses incurred by farmers.

The Governor was joined to officially flag off the construction by the National Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr. Aminu Bodinga Mohammed; Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hakeem Jamiu; Ekiti RAAMP Coordinator/Special Adviser on Roads, Hon. Sunday Adunmo; Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Bode Adetoyi; Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Prof. Adio Folayan, and local government chairmen.

…The project took off with six pilot roads, namely: Ogotun-Alagbede Road, Kajola-Ago Aduloju Road, Iyin Odo Oro-Aroto Road, Itaji-Orisunmibare Road, Oke Ako Farm Road and Imesi Kosomolate Road, with others to commence in due course.

  • Fayemi did not complete Itaji- Imojo- Orisumbare Road

The Itaji- Imojo- Orisumbare road was flagged off as one of the six pilot roads under the RAAMP project in Ekiti state. While initial work began on the road, Governor Fayemi did not complete the construction of the road as he promised to deliver the road before leaving office.
