Commence Rehabilitation And Reconstruction Of Ago Aduloju - Kajola Road Before The End Of January 2021

Our Assessment

This promise is rated completedThe road was flagged off on January 15, 2021, meeting the promise deadline for commencement. However, the road projects were never completed under Gov. Fayemi.

Why It Matters

This road connects farming communities to markets. The rehabilitation will reduce post-harvest losses, lower transportation costs for rural farmers, and improve access to healthcare and schools. The timely commencement by January 2021 demonstrates commitment to rural development and agricultural value chains in Ekiti State. However, full construction of the road will even strengthen infrastructure in Ekiti state.

Progress So Far

Fayemi commenced Kajola- Ago Aduloju Road in Ekiti

On January 15, 2021, Governor Fayemi flagged off the construction of 1,000km of rural roads across Ekiti State, with the Kajola-Ago Aduloju Road listed as one of the six pilot roads under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), co-financed by the World Bank and the French Agency for Development (AFD). The flag-off occurred before the end of January 2021, exactly as promised. The governor, represented by Deputy Governor Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, stated that the roads would stimulate grassroots economy, provide market access for farm produce, and prevent post-harvest losses. Contractors were instructed to engage local artisans and workmen to benefit the communities.

While update from the RAAMP roads show they are far from being completed by the time Fayemi left office, the promise specifically required only commencement of rehabilitation and reconstruction before the end of January 2021, not completion.
