In a move to modernize its healthcare system and improve data-driven decision-making, the Makinde administration made a forward-looking promise for its second term- to build the Oyo State Electronic Health Records System (EHRS) and transfer at least 25% of patients within the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme to this database within three years of being re-elected. This initiative aimed to digitize patient information, streamline hospital operations, and create a more efficient and integrated healthcare environment.

As this is a three-year promise, a final assessment is not yet due. However, current developments indicate the project is in its very early, foundational phase. The recent receipt of 22,200 data tools is a relevant step, but it does not on its own constitute significant progress toward the core promise.
