Governor Seyi Makinde's campaign promise to purchase modern equipment and logistics for security agencies to fight crime was fulfilled during his first term.

On December 14, 2020, barely 18 months into his administration, the governor launched 33 pick-up vehicles and 396 motorcycles for the Western Nigeria Security Network, code-named “Amotekun”, in what marked a significant commitment to the state's security architecture.

The 33 vehicles were distributed across all 33 local government areas, while the 396 motorcycles were deployed to wards across the state to enhance operational coverage.

Beyond the Amotekun fleet, the administration's security equipment procurement extended to other law enforcement agencies.

Between 2019 and 2023, the government provided operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Operation Burst, alongside communication equipment including walkie-talkies with state-wide coverage, steel helmets, bulletproof jackets, combat boots, and CCTV cameras linked to a Security Control Room.

By 2022, an additional 100 operational vehicles were handed over to Oyo Amotekun Corps to further facilitate security operations across the state.

This systematic approach to equipping security agencies demonstrates that the promise to purchase modern equipment and logistics for crime-fighting was delivered comprehensively during the first term.
